SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH COMPLEX / SPECIALIST NEEDS
Our Support Workers are able to provide care and support for people with many different conditions. To name just a few, we support people who suffer from:
- Arthritis
- Cancer
- Dementia
- Diabetes
- Impaired vision and other senses
- Parkinson’s
- Stroke
We can support individuals with equipment such as hoists to aid their mobility – whether it is a ceiling or portable hoist. Support Workers receive training in moving and positioning people. Your care needs assessment will take full account of your needs. Some individuals may require the assistance of two Support Workers. This will be arranged. If you have a catheter, we can assist with emptying and changing the bag.
We also support people with learning difficulties e.g. with helping them to access the community or managing chores so that they can live independently. Some individuals with learning difficulties may exhibit challenging behaviour. These will be explored during the care needs assessment and strategies to cope with these will be put in place so that Support Workers know what action to take if these transpire.
Regular care reviews will be carried out to ensure the safety of both the individual and the Support Worker. Our Support Workers are chosen based on their experience and personal qualities including empathy and their willingness to learn. We will always ensure that the Support Worker(s) allocated to you, receives relevant training to accommodate your specific needs.
